Treetop Retreat: A Treehouse Build in Muskoka
Happy Labour day! Also known as the last cottage weekend of the summer… where we get to enjoy to last lake swims, boat rides & bonfires, this is a summer we won’t soon forget. In it’s honour, I want to share photos of this magical treehouse on lake Rosseau, Muksoka. Chris built it for friends and I decorated a few years ago, this was my very first design project and we had such a blast working on it together!
I love playing with colour in my designs, I usually get inspired by one item that speaks to me, in this case the colour palette was pulled from the stripes of a vintage Hudson Bay blanket found in the adjacent cottage. Using this palette in the treehouse creates continuity within the two spaces.
The plywood flooring was painted red for a pop of colour and the unfinished framed walls were painted white to create a rustic cabin vibe. Mixing in vintage items in a new build is also a great way to achieved that lived in cottage look, it’s also the most sustainable way to shop ;)
